About this Manual Handling & Gas Fire Extinguishing Course

This combined course gives you the essential skills to safely handle manual tasks and respond to fire emergencies, including gas fires.

You’ll gain hands-on experience using first attack firefighting equipment such as extinguishers, fire hose reels, and fire blankets, while also learning to evaluate and extinguish gas fires in a controlled environment.

The course also focuses on identifying, preparing for, and completing hazardous manual tasks in line with workplace safety standards.

Course Outline

Units covered:

  • CPPFES2005 – Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment

  • HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely

  • UEGNSG203 – Evaluate and Extinguish Gas Fire

You’ll learn how to:

  • Use fire extinguishers, fire hose reels, and fire blankets

  • Identify and assess fire emergencies involving gas

  • Evaluate and safely extinguish gas fires

  • Identify manual handling risks in the workplace

  • Prepare for and complete manual tasks safely

  • Contribute to safe work practices on site

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Safely disconnect and reconnect small gas meters

  • Perform accurate pressure tests on gas installations

  • Read, record, and report gas meter data

  • Conduct safe relighting of Type A gas appliances

  • Complete relevant documentation in line with WHS and industry requirements

Outcome
On successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
