Further Information
What is an EWP?
An Elevated Work Platform (AS2550.10; 1.3.7) is a mobile machine (device) that is self-propelling, or towable by trailer or truck and used to move persons, tools, and materials to elevated working positions. An EWP consists of at least a work platform with controls, an extending structure, and a chassis. There are many variations of EWPs, but they can be classified as either Boom type or Scissor type.
To operate an elevated work platform in Australia, workers typically need to undergo specialised training and obtain relevant licenses or certifications. These credentials confirm that the operator is knowledgeable about the safe operation of the specific type of EWP they intend to use. Training covers areas such as equipment inspection, risk assessment, emergency procedures, and proper use of safety equipment.
