About this Refix & Relight Course

Looking to develop skills in gas meter handling and appliance relighting? You're in the right place.

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to disconnect, reconnect, and pressure test small gas meters, perform meter readings, and relight Type A gas appliances following manufacturer instructions and workplace safety procedures.

Ideal for technicians working in residential or small commercial gas installations, this course ensures you're competent and compliant with current industry practices.

Course Outline

The Refix and Relight course includes both theory and practical training using real-world tools and gas appliances.

Training covers:

  • Disconnecting, replacing, and reconnecting small gas meters

  • Performing pressure tests on gas installations

  • Recording and documenting meter readings

  • Planning and executing meter reading sequences

  • Relighting Type A gas appliances safely and efficiently

  • Conducting appliance and installation tightness tests

  • Completing all required documentation and compliance reports

This hands-on training is designed to give you practical experience in the field of gas servicing and installation.

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Safely disconnect and reconnect small gas meters

  • Perform accurate pressure tests on gas installations

  • Read, record, and report gas meter data

  • Conduct safe relighting of Type A gas appliances

  • Complete relevant documentation in line with WHS and industry requirements

Outcome
On successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Important Information

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
