About this Pedestrian Operated Forklift / Pallet Truck Course

Looking to gain practical skills for low-risk materials handling? This course provides the training required to safely operate pedestrian operated forklifts or pallet trucks, including push-around units, motorised walk-behinds, and motorised rider models.

It’s ideal for workers involved in warehouse, logistics, or retail operations who do not require a High Risk Work Licence.
Note: This course does not cover counterbalance, reach, or order-picking forklifts. A valid LF or LO licence is required to operate those machines.

Course Outline

This course includes:

  • Planning and preparing for pedestrian forklift operations

  • Identifying and managing site-specific hazards

  • Conducting pre-start inspections on the machine and attachments

  • Operating pedestrian forklifts in tight areas and lifting to various heights

  • Concluding operations safely and securing the equipment

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private onsite training available nationally (subject to site requirements).

Onsite Training Requirements:

  • Indoor training space with tables, chairs, and a screen/projector

  • Clear operating area for forklift manoeuvring

  • Pedestrian-operated forklift in serviceable condition

  • Racking or load stations at varied heights for practical assessment

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Perform hazard assessments before operating

  • Conduct equipment checks on pedestrian-operated forklifts

  • Shift loads safely at low, medium, and high heights

  • Navigate obstacles in a controlled manner

  • Shut down, park, and secure equipment following site procedures

Certification Outcome
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion (non-accredited training).

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
