About this Online Asbestos Awareness Course

Need to stay safe around asbestos? You’re in the right place.

This online course provides essential awareness training for workers who may come into contact with asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) on job sites. It is particularly suited for workers in construction, renovation, and trades who need to comply with WHS regulations when working near asbestos.

If you’re working with asbestos in areas smaller than 10m² or may encounter asbestos during your tasks, this course is a legal requirement.

Common roles that require this training include:

  • Builders and construction workers

  • Kitchen and bathroom renovators

  • Electricians

  • Plumbers

Course Outline

The Asbestos Awareness Training is delivered 100% online and is self-paced, allowing participants to complete it on their own schedule.

Training covers:

  • Asbestos types and identification

  • Health risks and safe work practices

  • WHS regulations and Codes of Practice

  • PPE and tools for asbestos risk control

  • Handling procedures and reporting requirements

This course takes approximately 2 hours to complete and includes interactive content and assessment.

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private training can be organised and conducted onsite if the following training and assessment requirements are met:

  • A room with access to power, a blank wall for presentation, a projector screen or a large TV, table/s and chairs.
  • Slewing Mobile Crane, with a telescopic boom and a winch with a minimum lifting capacity of 2t or more (with current service history, free from faults and operator manual present)
  • Licenced crane operator (must hold HRW C2 licence or higher)
  • Lifting equipment: Slings, tagline rope, fibre rope (minimum 10mm)

Required loads:

  1. Loose pipes in stillage (Minimum 2000kg)
  2. Steel plate (approx. 25mm, 1.5 x 0m)
  3. Square Load with defined lifting points such as a bin (minimum 2 tonne)
  4. Round load, such as a telegraph pole/log (minimum of 5m long)
  5. Uneven weighted load such as bin with material inside (minimum 2 tonne)

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify materials that may contain asbestos

  • Understand legal responsibilities under WHS legislation

  • Apply safe handling and risk management procedures

  • Implement control measures to minimise exposure

  • Recognise health risks and use appropriate PPE

Outcome
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for Online Asbestos Awareness Training.

Who can remove more than 10m2 of asbestos?

Before undertaking asbestos work involving more than 10 square meters of non-friable asbestos or any quantity of friable asbestos, workers are required to successfully complete the designated VET course.

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
