About this Backhoe/Loader Operations Course

Want to get certified to operate a backhoe loader? You’re in the right place.

This course is designed for those in operational roles who need to safely and effectively operate a backhoe/loader on civil construction sites. You’ll learn how to complete a range of tasks including excavation, material handling, and use of attachments—while working within WHS guidelines.

You’ll be assessed on your ability to operate the machine safely and competently across multiple tasks and real-world scenarios.

This course delivers a nationally recognised qualification aligned with RIIMPO319E.

Course Outline
The course combines theory with hands-on practical training, covering:

  • Site safety and legislative requirements

  • Planning and preparing for backhoe/loader work

  • Conducting pre-operational checks

  • Operating the machine for excavation and load handling

  • Fitting and using attachments (where applicable)

  • Relocating the machine

  • Performing routine maintenance and worksite clean-up

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Onsite Requirements: 

  • A room with access to power, a blank wall for presentation, a projector screen or a large TV, table/s and chairs.
  • Clear flat area for performing Backhoe operations
  • Backhoe (in serviceable condition with operator’s manual present)

Learning Outcome
By completing this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Apply OHS legislation and site safety procedures

  • Follow job instructions and workplace documentation

  • Plan and complete backhoe/loader tasks

  • Safely load, carry and place materials

  • Attach, use and remove various tools and attachments

  • Relocate and maintain the machine

  • Clean up and restore the work area

Outcome
A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued for:

    Are you a highly experienced operator?

    We run 1-day earthmoving upgrade courses for experienced operators!

    • Duration: 1 day (8 hours)
    • Outcome: Statement of Attainment + a Verification of Competence VOC certificate.
    • Requirements: Students must hold an old OHS certification OR have 500+ hours of operational experience.

    Important Information

    If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

    No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
