About this Mobile Crane Code of Practice Refresher

This refresher course is designed for crane crew members and personnel who hold a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) for mobile crane operations. It provides the latest updates on legislation, Australian Standards, and industry Codes of Practice—ensuring your knowledge remains current and compliant.

This course supports the Mobile Crane Code of Practice 2006, which requires crane operators, doggers, and riggers to undertake refresher training every 2.5 to 3 years after receiving their initial licence or last refresher.

Kallibr Training’s non-accredited refresher program ensures you meet those requirements while sharpening your understanding of current best practices in crane operations.

Course Outline

The Mobile Crane Code of Practice Refresher course includes both theory and scenario-based learning, with a strong focus on real-world application.

Key topics include:

  • Legislation & Codes – How the Code of Practice aligns with the WHS Act and Regulations

  • Risk Management – Strategies specific to mobile crane operations

  • Industry Updates – Changes in legislation, standards, and worksite safety expectations

  • Practical Scenarios – Case studies and discussion tailored to crane crews

The course is suitable for:

  • Doggers, riggers, and mobile crane operators

  • Supervisors overseeing mobile crane operations

  • Safety officers or stakeholders needing to stay current with crane-related compliance

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private training can be organised and conducted onsite if the following training and assessment requirements are met:

  • A room with access to power, a blank wall for presentation, a projector screen or a large TV, table/s and chairs.
  • Slewing Mobile Crane, with a telescopic boom and a winch with a minimum lifting capacity of 2t or more (with current service history, free from faults and operator manual present)
  • Licenced crane operator (must hold HRW C2 licence or higher)
  • Lifting equipment: Slings, tagline rope, fibre rope (minimum 10mm)

Required loads:

  1. Loose pipes in stillage (Minimum 2000kg)
  2. Steel plate (approx. 25mm, 1.5 x 0m)
  3. Square Load with defined lifting points such as a bin (minimum 2 tonne)
  4. Round load, such as a telegraph pole/log (minimum of 5m long)
  5. Uneven weighted load such as bin with material inside (minimum 2 tonne)

Learning Outcome
By the end of this course, participants will:

  • Understand the requirements of the Mobile Crane Code of Practice

  • Apply updated safety and compliance knowledge to daily crane operations

  • Recognise key changes in regulations and their impact on site practices

  • Contribute to safer and more compliant crane operations

Outcome
On successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attendance for the Mobile Crane Code of Practice Refresher.

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
