About this Confined Space & Gas Test Atmospheres Course

Need to work safely in confined spaces and test air quality before entering? You’re in the right place.

This course provides the essential knowledge and practical skills required to enter and work in confined spaces, conduct gas testing using electronic detection equipment, and operate under a permit-to-work system. It’s ideal for workers across construction, mining, utilities, and maintenance industries who perform tasks in restricted or hazardous environments.

Course Outline

This course combines multiple nationally recognised units into one practical program designed to meet WHS obligations and real-world job requirements.

Training covers:

  • Planning and preparing for confined space entry

  • Applying for, understanding, and complying with work permits

  • Conducting atmospheric testing using gas detection equipment

  • Safe entry, work, and exit procedures for confined spaces

  • Equipment checks, maintenance, and cleanup

Participants will undertake both theory and hands-on practical training to develop confidence working in high-risk confined environments.

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Learning Outcome
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply for and work under a permit-to-work system

  • Identify and prepare confined space entry requirements

  • Use gas test equipment to assess air quality before and during work

  • Enter and work safely in confined spaces

  • Exit, secure, and clean up the work area post-task

  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment

Outcome
On successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment, typically covering the following units:

  • RIIWHS202E – Enter and work in confined spaces

  • MSMWHS217 – Gas test atmospheres

  • MSMPER200 / MSMPER202 – Work in accordance with an issued permit and observe permit work

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
