About this Electrical Network Awareness Course

This course provides essential electrical safety awareness training for those who work near overhead and underground electrical infrastructure. It is designed to give participants the knowledge required to work safely around the electricity network, in line with the latest legislation and safety codes.

The 1656 – Introduction to Electrical Network Infrastructure for Authorised Persons replaces the previous T0911 course and supports applications to become an Energex Authorised Person.

This course is ideal for workers operating plant, vehicles, or performing tasks near electrical assets in the field.

Course Outline

This course covers:

  • Relevant WHS legislation and the Electrical Safety Code of Practice

  • Basic electrical principles and how electricity affects the human body

  • Roles of Authorised, Instructed, and Untrained Persons

  • Identification of overhead and underground network infrastructure

  • Components of substations and distribution systems

  • Hazard identification and risk control methods near electrical apparatus

  • Determining exclusion zones for people, vehicles, and equipment

  • Emergency procedures and reporting in the event of an incident

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and apply the Electrical Safety Code of Practice – Working Near Overhead and Underground Electric Lines

  • Recognise and manage risks associated with electrical infrastructure

  • Identify electric lines, cables, substations, and associated equipment

  • Determine exclusion zones and apply safe work practices

  • Explain key safety responsibilities and respond appropriately to electrical emergencies

Certification Outcome
Participants who complete the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

This course also enables participants to apply for Energex Authorised Person status.

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
