Course Description:
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to operate an order picking forklift truck safely.
Order picking forklift truck means a forklift truck where the operator controls are incorporated with the lifting media and elevate with the lifting media.
A person performing this work is required to hold an order picking forklift truck high risk work (HRW) licence.
This unit requires a person operating an order picking forklift truck to plan the work, conduct routine checks on order-picking forklift trucks, shift loads in a safe manner, and safely shut down and secure equipment after completing operations.
Location:
Private training can be organised and conducted onsite if the following training and assessment requirements are met:
- A room with access to power, a blank wall for presentation, a projector screen or a large TV, table/s and chairs.
- Clear flat operating area for practical training.
- A suitable order picking forklift truck that complies with AS 2359 Powered industrial trucks and is in a safe/serviceable condition in accordance with manufacturer requirements
- Suitable stock and compliant racking system to pick loads from.

What is an Order Picking Forklift Truck?
An order-picking forklift truck has the operator’s control as part of the load carriage/lifting media and lifts with it. Order-picking forklift trucks are generally referred to as “stock pickers”. They can be fitted with a platform extension for use in furniture warehouses, or can be a turret truck in narrow aisle warehouses.
SafeWork/WorkSafe conditions of assessment:
- Applicants to be at least 18 years of age.
- Able to produce 100 points or more of identification as per the SafeWork/WorkSafe identification checklist.
- Speak and understand English at a level to be able to participate in the training and assessment
Note: Verbal assessments can be arranged for applicants with writing and reading difficulties (extra charge applies)
