About this Hand and Power Tools Course

This practical course provides the essential skills to safely use hand and power tools in operational work environments across the resources, infrastructure, and construction industries.

The unit RIISAM203E – Use Hand and Power Tools is ideal for workers performing routine tasks who need to select, operate, and maintain a variety of tools while following site safety standards.

Training focuses on safe tool handling, correct use, and post-use housekeeping in line with WHS procedures.

Course Outline

Unit covered:

  • RIISAM203E – Use Hand and Power Tools

This course covers:

  • Planning and preparing for tool use

  • Selecting the right hand and power tools for the task

  • Safely operating tools in accordance with manufacturer specifications

  • Maintaining tools and completing housekeeping activities

  • Following safe work practices and site procedures

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Training can also be conducted onsite, provided the following conditions are met:

  • A training room with power, seating, and presentation facilities

  • Clear, flat operating area for practical assessments

  • Safe and serviceable hand and power tools available on-site

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify, select, and use appropriate hand and power tools for a range of tasks

  • Operate tools safely under supervision

  • Conduct pre-use checks and routine maintenance

  • Clean and store tools correctly post-operation

  • Contribute to a safe and efficient work environment

Certification Outcome
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:

Some common Power Tools include; Drills, Cut off saw, Kanga Hammers.

Important Information

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
