About this Telehandler Gold Card Course

Looking to get certified to operate a telehandler? This course provides the skills, knowledge, and assessment needed to earn a TSHA Gold Card Licence for telescopic materials handler operations.

You’ll learn how to plan, inspect, operate, and safely conclude telehandler operations using fork tynes. Training with additional attachments—such as crane jibs, earthmoving buckets, or grabs—can be provided upon request.

Note: This course does not cover slewing telehandlers or crane jib attachments over 3 tonnes. A High Risk Work Licence (C2 or CN) is required for those operations.

Course Outline

This course is designed for workers in operational roles and includes:

  • Planning and preparing for telehandler operations

  • Conducting pre-operational checks on the machine and attachments

  • Operating the telehandler through various conditions and obstacles

  • Parking, shutting down, and securing the equipment safely

  • Site-specific procedures and hazard management

Unit Covered:

  • TSHA Gold Card (Telehandler Operator Licence)

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private onsite training is available in NSW, provided site requirements are met:

  • Indoor training space with power and presentation facilities

  • Clear and safe outdoor operating area

  • Serviceable telehandler and attachments (with operator manual present)

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify site hazards and plan telehandler operations

  • Conduct inspections on the telehandler and its attachments

  • Operate the telehandler safely and efficiently

  • Secure the machine and complete operations in line with workplace procedures

Certification Outcome
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive:

  • A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment

  • A TSHA Gold Card licence issued by the Telescopic Handler Association of Australia

Forklift VS Telehandler?

Forklift: A forklift will have a vertical mast and an elevating load carriage. A pair of fork tynes or another load-holding attachment is fitted to the body.

Telehandler: A Telehandler will have a telescoping boom with varying height/reach and a lifting attachment (Forks, jib, bucket etc.)

What is a TSHA Telehandler Gold Card?

A TSHA Gold Card is the name of Operator License Card issued to individuals who successfully complete training for one or more of the 4 attachment type training modules for a Telehandler.

You are legally required to hold a TSHA Gold Card in order to operate a Telehandler.

The purpose of the Gold Card is to show you have been trained in the safe operation of using a Telehandler. You can request a Gold Card after completing a Kallibr Telehandler Course.

Important Information

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
