About this Polyfusion, Service & Mainlaying Combo Course

Looking for comprehensive training in gas pipeline construction and welding? You’re in the right place.

This all-in-one combo course equips participants with the practical skills and knowledge to carry out polyfusion welding, gas service and main laying, and combustible gas detection. It includes training in:

  • Butt, electrofusion, socket, and saddle fusion

  • Polyfusion up to 63mm

  • Large diameter butt welding for PE gas pipelines

  • Construction and laying of plastic and steel gas mains

  • Gas service connections to mains

  • Use of portable gas detectors for leak detection

  • Partial coating of metallic pipelines

Upon completion, students will also be issued with a poly welder ID number and stamp, supporting compliance with asset owner requirements.

Course Outline

This blended course combines multiple nationally recognised units and non-accredited modules to provide a well-rounded skillset for gas pipeline professionals.

Training covers:

  • Polyethylene (PE) welding: butt, electrofusion, socket, and saddle fusion

  • Welding of large diameter PE gas pipelines

  • Construction and installation of plastic and steel gas mains

  • Service connection installation to gas mains

  • Use of gas detectors to identify and locate combustible gas leaks

  • Partial coating techniques for metallic pipeline protection

  • Worksite preparation, documentation, and compliance procedures

This course is ideal for gas technicians, installers, and civil construction workers involved in utility infrastructure.

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Learning Outcome
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify materials compatible with PE welding techniques

  • Operate and maintain butt and electrofusion welding equipment

  • Inspect welds for quality assurance

  • Construct and lay both plastic and steel gas distribution mains

  • Connect gas services to mains in accordance with industry standards

  • Use portable gas detectors to locate and assess gas leaks

  • Perform partial coating of metallic pipes

  • Complete documentation to comply with WHS and asset owner protocols

Outcome
On successful completion, participants will receive:

  • A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for accredited units

  • A Certificate of Attendance for the following non-accredited short courses:

    • K-006 – Polyfusion

    • K-014 – PE Squeeze-Off

    • K-004 – Pipe Prep

    • K-012 – Recommissioning/Decommissioning Support

  • A Welder ID number and stamp

    If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

    No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
