About this Gas Test Atmospheres Course

Need to test the atmosphere before starting high-risk work? You're in the right place.

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to safely test working atmospheres using electronic gas detection equipment. It is essential for anyone working in confined spaces, hazardous areas, or environments where airborne contaminants or lack of oxygen may pose a risk.

The training ensures participants can assess atmospheric conditions to determine whether it's safe to proceed with the proposed work.

Course Outline

The MSMWHS217 – Gas Test Atmospheres course includes a combination of theoretical learning and hands-on practical training.

Training covers:

  • Preparing for gas testing

  • Using electronic gas detection equipment

  • Interpreting gas test readings

  • Monitoring ongoing atmospheric conditions

  • Maintaining and calibrating gas testing devices

This course is ideal for workers in construction, mining, utilities, and confined space entry.

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Prepare work areas and equipment for gas testing

  • Conduct gas testing using approved electronic devices

  • Interpret results and respond appropriately to unsafe readings

  • Maintain gas detection equipment in line with manufacturer and WHS guidelines

Outcome
On successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for MSMWHS217 – Gas Test Atmospheres.

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
