About this Electrical Safety Observer Course

This course provides the essential training for non-electrical workers who are required to work near live electrical apparatus, including overhead and underground power lines.

The unit UETDREL006 – Work Safely in the Vicinity of Live Electrical Apparatus as a Non-Electrical Worker equips participants with the knowledge to understand electrical hazards, apply exclusion zones, and follow safe work practices in line with WHS legislation and the Electrical Safety Code of Practice 2010.

This training is commonly required for spotters, machine operators, construction workers, and ground crew.

Course Outline

Unit covered:

  • UETDREL006 – Work Safely in the Vicinity of Live Electrical Apparatus

This course covers:

  • Understanding the application of the Electrical Safety Code of Practice

  • Basic electrical concepts and effects of electricity on the human body

  • Identifying overhead and underground electrical hazards

  • Understanding risk management procedures when working near live electrical lines

  • Identifying electrical infrastructure and voltage levels

  • Applying correct exclusion zones for people, vehicles, and plant

  • Emergency planning, response, and reporting in case of an electrical incident

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify electrical hazards in the field and apply appropriate risk controls

  • Understand the requirements of working near live power lines and equipment

  • Apply exclusion zones based on voltage and equipment type

  • Respond appropriately in the event of an electrical emergency

Certification Outcome
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
