About this Manual Handling Course

Looking to reduce injury risk in your workplace? You’re in the right place.

This course provides the essential skills and knowledge required to safely conduct manual tasks in the workplace. It is designed for anyone who performs manual handling as part of their job—such as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing or pulling objects—and is also suitable for supervisors and managers responsible for task planning and safety.

The training focuses on risk management strategies to help reduce the likelihood of musculoskeletal injuries and promote safer work practices.

Course Outline

The HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely course is delivered in a short, interactive session that combines theory with practical application.

Training covers:

  • Identifying manual tasks that pose a risk

  • Understanding body mechanics and injury prevention

  • Preparing for and completing manual handling tasks safely

  • Adopting ergonomic techniques to minimise strain

  • Contributing to ongoing workplace safety practices

This course is ideal for workers across warehousing, healthcare, construction, retail, and office environments.

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise hazardous manual tasks and associated risks

  • Apply correct lifting techniques and use equipment safely

  • Complete manual tasks with reduced strain and improved posture

  • Promote and contribute to safe manual handling practices in the workplace

Outcome
On successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:
HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely

Location:

Private training can be organised at either Kallibr Training’s facilities OR conducted onsite if the following training and assessment requirements are met:

  • Training room with tables, chairs and screen (or blank wall for a projector)

Important Information

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
