About this Asbestos Awareness Training Course

Working near potential asbestos materials? This Asbestos Awareness Training is essential for anyone whose job may involve disturbing or coming into contact with asbestos-containing materials.

You’ll gain the knowledge to identify asbestos risks, understand where asbestos is likely to be found, and know how to respond safely in line with WHS requirements. This course is ideal for tradespeople, supervisors, site managers, or anyone working in construction, maintenance, or demolition.

Course Outline

This course includes:

  • Understanding what asbestos is and where it may be found

  • Health risks associated with asbestos exposure

  • WHS legislation and Codes of Practice

  • Identifying asbestos-containing materials in buildings and plant

  • Using appropriate PPE and safety procedures

  • Safe practices for working near asbestos

All course participants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to read, understand, and write English
  • Able to produce and meet the evidence of identity criteria as per SafeWork / Worksafe identification requirements

Protective Personal Equipment – safety boots, high-visibility vests, and hard hats– is mandatory.

If a participant requires a reassessment for a High-Risk Work Licence an additional $250.00 + GST reassessment fee will apply.

Private courses can be arranged at any of our facilities in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, or for added convenience, we can come to you and deliver the course at your site, provided your site meets training and assessment requirements.

Learning Outcome
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise asbestos and where it may occur on worksites

  • Understand the health risks and legal obligations

  • Apply risk controls and use PPE effectively

  • Work safely in environments where asbestos may be present

Certification Outcome
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion (non-accredited training).

What does this course allow me to do?

The following is allowable with awareness training and no licence is required to:

  • Remove less than 10 square metres of non-friable asbestos
  • Manage ACD (asbestos contaminated dust or debris) that is associated with the removal of less than 10 square metres of non-friable asbestos
  • Manage a minor asbestos contamination not associated with the removal of friable or non-friable asbestos.

Course Suitability

  • Workers who enter ceiling cavities (such as insulation installers; pest spray operators; air-conditioning installers; maintenance and repair workers; solar panel providers)
  • Electricians; plumbers; carpenters and joiners; plasterers; painters and decorators; gas fitters; demolition workers; floor finishers
  • Emergency service workers
  • Building and construction workers

Important Information

If a participant withdraws from a qualification/unit, with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to commencement, Kallibr Training reserves the right to retain the 30% administration booking fee.

No refund will be provided within two (2) business days prior to commencement. No refund will be permitted after course commencement or if a participant fails to attend on the scheduled commencement date.
